REFLECTING ON 2020

Holy Bananas, it’s 2021! How ARE you?! How are you feeling about the year we just finished?

Twenty twenty was some seriously challenging stuff - it seems like the whole world has spent this entire year shocked in one way or another.  It’s important to call out things that are wrong, to face hard realities in order to fight for and do better, to empathize with others, to take care of one another.  There was a lot of this for everyone in 2020 - we ran a race for sure.

I don’t think I’m alone in wanting to end the year by counting my blessings.  For all of the challenge, there was indeed so much to be thankful for…

👰🏼‍♀️I became Mrs. Hubbard! Our wedding has been delayed until it’s safe to gather - how wonderful it will be!

🙏🏻 Even with the lockdown-induced pause, my business remained alive and sustainable

🦾Helped my husband launch an incredible design + research lab in downtown Alpharetta, which was followed *immediately* by the initial pandemic lockdown.  But then…..

🤘🏻My husband and a team of incredible creators decided to pivot + launch PIXEL RECESS - and they invited me to partner with them 💃

🎉 I got to cheer on and support my friends as they did awesome things - boldly transitioned to full time business owner ( Banes Creative Design ), published a book ( Neatly Nic ), helped businesses to pivot and keep going during COVID ( LiebePR ), grew their business in new ways ( Coach Ruth ONeil and Liebe Cares ) to name a few!

🤟🏻Worked with an incredible SL interpreter to start regaining my sign language fluency

📸 I was blessed to continue creating work that I’m proud of with some really incredible people and businesses

🏡 We got our house unpacked!

🛑 I confronted “friends or acquaintances who were standing up for or permitting racism, hate, or bigotry

😅 We survived having three kids at home for virtual learning

♥️ I began and stayed committed to reading plan to read completely through the Bible within a year

🎥 I finally made the leap into directing and editing video

☕️ I’ve started learning to be okay with having SPACE between “productive” time

No doubt you faced challenges in 2020 - how did you walk through them? What were your blessings? How has it all shaped the way you’ll live this next year ahead?

Happy New Year, friend. I wish you peace, joy, strength, and love in 2021!

With Joy,

Lauren Liz
